    BRONCOVENTURE     FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I really need to stay overnight?

Yes, you do.  Spending the night on campus gives you informal hang-out time with our student orientation leaders where you can ask questions about things you heard during the day. Also, research tells us students will only succeed academically if they first have a support system in place, have their anxieties reduced about being in a new place, and gain familiarity with their surroundings. The overnight component addresses all of these things. There is a social program after the formal schedule on day 1, as well as many other opportunities later in the evening for you to connect with one another. Connecting with other students who will become classmates and friends is an integral part of the academic experience. Part of the Boise State experience is learning from one another both inside and outside the classroom, and BroncoVenture begins this process.

What if I need to miss part of the Orientation Program?

Students will be expected to attend BroncoVenture starting from check-in on the first day until check-out on the second day.  Students who arrive late or leave the program early may be asked to schedule another orientation date or may not receive a registration appointment.  Please plan accordingly.  If an emergency does arise during the program, contact your Orientation leader so they can instruct you on what to do.

Do parents and family members stay overnight with me?

No.  Parents and family members of those students who are attending the BroncoVenture Orientation program will need to find their own overnight accommodations.  More information on off-campus lodging can be found here.

How can I sign up for a program that is not listed on my BroncoWeb?

If an Orientation program is listed on our website but is not listed on BroncoWeb, it is usually due to it being at or over capacity.  If a program is at or over capacity, we are unable to add any additional students into that program.  If you are not seeing any BroncoVenture programs on BroncoWeb, call our office at 208-426-1679 so we may assist you.

Do parents and family members have to go with me to my Orientation?

While we do offer separate programming for parents and family members, they are not required to attend the orientation program with you.  However, we highly recommend it.

When do I get to register for classes?

You will register for classes and speak with an academic advisor on Day 2.  Please note, parents and family members will not be with their students during this time.

What exactly is going to happen each day?

Lots of things for both you and your parents and/or family members.  You can find a detailed agenda for June 23rd here, and for June 24th here. (Both link to PDF documents.)  This agenda will roughly be the same for your program.

Where is Chaffee Hall?

Chaffee Hall is located North of the Taco Bell Arena and South of the Boise River Greenbelt.  You will find a map to Chaffee Hall on the program details page of your program.  You can find those pages by clicking here.

My major isn't listed for this program.  Will I still be able to receive information and advising for my major?

Yes, you will.  However, we strongly recommend students to sign up for the BroncoVenture Orientation which is geared toward their major to receive the best possible experience.

Where do I park?

In Parking Structure 2, which is located on the corner of University and Lincoln.  You can view additional parking details by clicking here.  No refunds will be given to participants that receive tickets or pay for parking on their own.

How much does this program cost?

There is no separate cost for Orientation as any costs associated with Orientation are covered by the fees all new students pay.
